Important Opportunities

At Summit, for many years now, we have honored Orphan Sunday in November.  We know that the orphan, the vulnerable, the marginalized are close to the Father’s heart.

This year, because of Hurricane Ian, we weren’t able to do what we normally do for Orphan Sunday. However, we still want to share a couple of pressing needs with you.

  1. More Wrap-Around Care Volunteers

The first is the need for more wrap-around volunteers. Our wrap-around teams serve Summit families that have brought kids into their home either through adoption, foster care, Better Together hosting, or any other placement situation. Volunteering in this way allows for everyone in the church to engage in caring for the vulnerable. The biggest need is always bringing meals to families who have recently taken in a child, but there are other ways to serve too - childcare, tutoring, mentoring. 2. More Foster Families

The second need we have is for more Foster Families.  Following the hurricane, almost 20% of One More Child (our ECI Foster partner) homes have been severely affected or have had to close completely.  What was already a dire situation before the storm, has worsened.

If you have ever considered getting licensed, now would be a great time.  Even assisting with short term, emergency placements that provide children a safe place to sleep for a few nights while a more permanent foster home is being found would be a tremendous help.
